Ise is the first game I ever developed. It was first developed in 2010 for the Samsung Application Developer Challenge using the Java programming language. For me it was the most stressful 6 weeks of my life but I made it. You can read all about it here.


Ise is started by selecting a cell to play it. Once a cell is selected seed distribution occurs until you get to an empty cell. In this version of Ise, you play the computer. To understand the process being simulated, arrange seeds with the same number and tryout the process.

Ise is similar to other sow and capture games like Ayo and Oware. Once you can get 4 seeds in a cell, you capture the seeds in a cell which is added to your score. Play continues until you are left with 8 seeds in total on the board. At this point, you are at the end game. The next to capture a cell wins the game and has the remaining 4 cells added to their own score.

HTML5 Version

After 2 years since my first game I decided to port it to HTML5. Trying to kickstart a game studio hasn’t been easy but one thing I have come to realise is that the web is here to stay.

Deciding to use HTML5 was as a result of the business model I intend using for my game studio. I am still evolving it but for me I like the fact that I can distribute games and get feed back for free.
